The picturesque Doornbosch Estate & Guesthouses lie in the heart of the southernmost region of South Africa, the Western Cape. Our five cosy, self-catering, vacation hideaways, offer our visitors a memorable stay in complete peace. Here, everything is calm, tranquil, and serene; a place where "getting away from it all" really is possible.
A wonderful getaway amid South Africa's southernmost area – the Western Cape. The country retreat is set in the heart of rural Overberg, just a 2-hour drive from Cape Town.
Our guests experience a special stay in absolute tranquility in one of our five comfortable, self-catering holiday hideaways. Life here is relaxed, quiet and unspoiled – a little hiding place where peace, truly is possible.
However, the tranquility does not stop there, for there is always something to discover! You can ride our gentle horses through the lovely fynbos fields over the Doornbosch Estate hills, unwind in front of your private fireplace or indulge in a much-needed nap next to our outdoor pool. Hiking, biking, and bird watching are alternative pastimes on our 5000-ha farm.
Our region is rich in activities. You can enjoy whale watching at Pearly Beach's beachfront or take a stroll through Elim, a charming mission town. Drive to Arniston for the acclaimed fresh wild oysters, or visit Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa. Wine tastings at prized wine estates can be arranged, as well as golf rounds on one of the spectacular Golf Courses nearby. You are welcome to do as much, or as little during your stay with us!
Our five guesthouses offer absolute privacy and utmost comfort. Perfect for couples, friends, and families. Your children and pets are welcome at any time. Our houses can accommodate from 2 to 8 guests, for weekend getaways, honeymoons, family holidays and functions. Each self-catering house has a fully equipped kitchen, en suite baths, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a private terrace with braai facilities and sun beds. All guests have access to the crystal-clear pool, secure parking, the organic vegetable garden (depending on the season) and free access to walk and enjoy nature.

Doornbosch Estate & Guesthouses is a mere 2-hour drive from Cape Town, midway between Elim and Gansbaai. Centrally located between the local wine cellars, close to the white beaches of Pearly Beach and just a few minutes from the scenic mission village of Elim. Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa is only 45 minutes away! This rural part of the southernmost area of the Western Cape is a well-kept nature reserve. Life here is relaxed, quiet and unspoilt. This is the place where "getting away from it all" is possible. You have the choice of being part of a working cattle and game farm. Experiencing the farm on horseback or from our game drive vehicle, or just relaxing in the quiet luxury of our cottages and guesthouse and letting all your stress disappear. GENERAL INFORMATION
Check-in is from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Later Check-ins must be arranged before arrival.
Check out until 10:00 am.
Cleaning service daily (except Sundays, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day).
Changing of towels and linens every three days or upon special request.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the gate of Doornbosch Estate & Guesthouses by our manager.
Please be advised that we do not accept walk-ins.
Our guesthouses are available for self-catering or with a breakfast basket upon request.
Our hearty country breakfast basket includes organic farm eggs, bacon, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, seasonal fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt, muesli, bread, and butter. Please book with your booking of accommodation. Booking can be made along with guesthouse reservations.
We provide coffee and tea, fresh milk, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar in each house.
We stock bottled water and soft drinks upon arrival in the fridge. The amount is payable with checkout. Please review the price list inside the residence. And don’t forget to try the fantastic organic farm honey!
We can arrange barbeques for larger groups and functions. When booking, kindly inquire.
NB. We kindly advise that all personal groceries are acquired before checking in. The nearest grocery stores are in Gansbaai and Bredasdorp (30km away).
Restaurants are accessible close by; Marietjie’s (10 minutes), Pearly Beach (15 minutes),
Black Oystercatcher (20 minutes), and Gansbaai (30 minutes). All including a beautiful scenic-route drive.

You can bring your horse(s) to spend a riding holiday. All visiting horses must have valid passports. A ground levy applies. R200 will be charged per horse.
Farm drives can be booked, please specify with booking if you would like to do a game drive. Charges will apply.
All rides take place in open country on the farm. We have a qualified instructor and guide who will accompany you on all the rides. We take care to match the horse and the rider, depending on experience, and ability. Maximum weight 100kg.
Horses are available for beginners, intermediate and accomplished riders. All rides take place at your own risk. We reserve the right to decide if a person is suitable for riding.
Groups of riders with their horses are welcome. All visiting horses must have valid passports. A ground levy applies. R200 will be charged per horse.
Riding holidays upon request.
