The Black Oystercatcher is a family-run wine farm only 7 minutes away from Doornbosch. The Deli & Shop at the Winery offer fresh farm-style snacks, as well as wood-fired pizza, both can be enjoyed on the veranda. Shop for local crafts and cool-climate wines. You’ll also find a variety of local crafts at the gift shop – like crockery, leather bags, and beauty products. Please note that they operate cashless and accept card payments and SnapScan.

ZOETENDAL VINEYARDS (CLOSED FOR THE WINTER)

Zoetendal is situated in the heart of the Agulhas Plain and is part of thetNuwejaar Wetlands Special Management Area. The Zoetendal story starts with sunken ships and drunken sailors – a dramatic debut! It was the year 1673. The 448-ton Zoetendal, carrying a rich load of rice grains on a return voyage from present-day Jakarta, rounded the dreaded Cabo das Agulhas. Skip forward a few centuries, and farmer Johan de Kock, forming a local collective known as Land’s End, helped bravely launch viticulture in the region. The first 15 hectares of vines were planted in the Elim ward in 1996 in what was to become the newest winemaking frontier of the w  orld. Indeed, cultivars and wines from the Zoetendal estate have been used to make up award-winning vintages under expert vintners like Charles Hopkins of De Grendel.

BIRKENHEAD BREWERY

As the first brewing estate in the southern hemisphere, we run a small but growing micro-brewery situated in the Western Cape of South Africa. You can come and enjoy freshly brewed beer and the restaurant and pub. Indulge in a tasty pub lunch while you sit and enjoy the view. RAKA WINES

In the Stanford region, find RAKA wines only 17 km from Stanford on the R326. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant available but a small deli-style shop that sells local cheese, olives, relish, biscuits, etc., where you can make your own selection to enjoy while tasting.
